Red-winged Blackbird Petroglyph No. 1410

Intricately detailed ceramic tile made from a mold of a petroglyph carved into a rock which is located in Phippsburg, Maine. The tile adorns a green and yellow Redwing Blackbird with red detailing on its wings in the center, surrounded by a sea moss background and glossy finish. This technique helps to eloquently capture the essence of the rock site. Equipped with hanging accommodations.

About The Process: A petroglyph is carved into rock using a variety of traditional techniques. A mold is then made of the carving on site and translated into a slab of cast clay at the artists studio, forever capturing the unique textures and energy of the original site. Each piece is one of one.
